The end result of my art tends towards what I would describe as strong impact with colour used to convey the emotion along with large symbolic subject matter. I appreciate most paintings forms but as a preference I enjoy Expressionism the most with the works of De Kooning, Bacon and Otto Muller being my favourites.
Painting found me by pure chance. I once entered a derelict house a few years back which had caught my curiosity over the past months. In fact I used to collect mint from its garden before I ever entered it. On the day I climbed in through a broken window and crept over wrecked floor boards I chanced upon a large blank canvas which had been left by the previous occupants. As I knew it belonged to no one I took it home and it sat in my kitchen until one day I started to paint upon it.
That was my first ever experience of painting. I used oil which I have stayed loyal to and have been painting upon canvass ever since. Some would say that was fate and some of the end results of my works surprise me!
